My US portfolio warrants a page on its own apart from my holdings in Malaysian stocks.
I’ve found investing in the US to be much easier compared to Malaysia. Mainly because of the sheer volume of trades in a day. Also, they’re much, much more transparent.
I’ll only be updating my holdings and gains in percentage %.
I use eToro as my broker and if you’re keen to invest in the US with eToro, you can start hERE.
As always, Facebook, Instagram, and now ! Follow, keep up to date.
Copying Trading and Mirroring My Portfolio
To all my valued Copiers.
I am on eToro as a popular investor. Copying is an interesting feature on eToro where everyone is free to copy someone’s portfolio and future trades.
As of June 2021, I have more than $100,000 under management from more than 100 copiers.
This is the closest I will ever get to my dream of managing a fund. As such! I’ll treat all of you as stakeholders.
If you choose to copy me, here are a few things to know.
I am on eToro as dividendmagic.
You can register for an eToro account hERE
When you copy, you instantly trade whatever I choose to trade in. Whether it is a buy/sell position, you instantly mirror and copy it. So you don’t have to worry about any lag in between.
On eToro, I will be focusing on long-term growth investing. Dividends will not be a focus because we are subject to withholding taxes. You won’t be able to see my actual portfolio value, only in % terms but I have the bulk of my investment portfolio in US stocks.
I will apply both fundamental and technical analyses. I will not be using leverage and I have a CAGR target of at least 10%.
If you are copying, do copy all open trades. If you are new to investing and/or want to be hands-off, you can copy 100%. I will do all the work.
Most people choose to place 50% or more in copying me. I’d also recommend a minimum copy amount of at least $1,000 for the first time. And of course, continue adding to that $1,000 as you are able to. I target to add more capital every quarter. And finally, remember that you’re copying for the long term (>2 years).
As always, onwards and upwards and I will continue to procure long-term gains for everyone onboard. And most of all, thank you for trusting me and let’s look forward to the next 20 years of gains together.
Freedom Fund (USA)
December 2021 Update
End of the year update for my US portfolio! Some shares took a hit in Q4 which in turn brought the portfolio down a little compared to the last update.
Sold off BABA shares for now and bought into IAU – a gold ETF. Will be keeping an eye on BABA shares in the future.
SE has had a significant drop over the course of Q4 but nevertheless, I have faith in the company in the long run.
September 2021 Update
A little 3rd quarter update on the US portfolio.
Airbnb and Schwab turned out to be the biggest gainers for the month of September, Activision dropped quite a bit though and was the biggest loser. The rest stayed more or less the same.
I am looking to buy Disney shares again after some re-analysis. Will be waiting for a good price.
On the copiers’ side, thank you to all 175 of you who’re following my portfolio. As of today, we’ve got a copiers’ profitability rate of 92%. And as we do this for the long term, we should see that number go up steadily.
It has been a year since I’ve started investing on eToro. Loving it so far and looking forward to more improvements to the platform.
July/August 2021 Update
The US portfolio on eToro is at an all-time high right now. We’ve got Sea Ltd giving us a 155% return. A few really strong stable companies like Google and Microsoft have also recorded strong growth. Also hoping to see huge growth from Palantir in the next few years.
I’ll be looking to add more capital into the portfolio in the coming months just to have more cash on hand. Do you guys have any suggestions on companies to look at?
June 2021 Update
I was fortunate to be able to sell off some stocks in May that went down this month.
The tech sector as a whole did pretty well in June this year. No buys or sells this month.
As of June this year, I’ve got more than 100 of you copying my portfolio with >$100K under management. This is a mind-blowing amount for me so thank you. According to statistics provided by eToro, more than 78% of you are profitable. I’ve also noticed some of you copying and un-copying frequently, my advice – please do not attempt to time the market.
Moving forward, I’m being a little more cautious but at the same time looking for buy opportunities. All in all, I’m happy with how our money in the US is doing.
May 2021 Update
We’re up again in May! The update is coming a little late as I’ve been busy.
Added Airbnb to the portfolio (finally).
Sold off Daimler, Logitech, and Rolls Royce. All for a profit!
Looking to keep a little bit of cash on hand for now.
April 2021 Update
Portfolio is back up again for April.
Added Daimler to the basket.
Sold Nvidia for an 11% gain.
March 2021 Update
Markets have been going down for March. Will be looking for opportunities to buy and sell. Added Rolls Royce, Logitech and Berkshire Hathaway to the portfolio.
February 2021 Update
We’re at 100% gain for SE Ltd! This is including the latest addition of more shares in January.
Palantir went up to a 100% gain for me this month as well but dropped to about 70% as of today.
Added Charles Schwab to the portfolio.
Sold Facebook and Salesforce as I try to reduce exposure to tech stocks a little. Will be looking to add some traditional stocks to the portfolio.
As for copiers, just about touching 100 of you now. Thank you for the trust and let’s move onwards and upwards!
January 2021 Update
SE Ltd is showing a lower return compared to December 2020 because I actually added more units to the portfolio.
Bought into ARKK as it was added to eToro. Also added some Unity and Facebook to the portfolio. Getting really heavy into the tech sector.
Will be looking to add some capital in soon to move into more traditional sectors.
December 2020 Update
As we head into December, here’s my US Portfolio’s X-Mas update!
Transactions
Bought Salesforce, Unity
Sold Fastly.
2020 Conclusion
As 2020 comes to an end, I will be reorganizing my portfolio updates. It’ll follow the usual Freedom Fund’s format. You’ll only be seeing yearly updates for previous years. I’ll still be updating monthly come 2021.
